Well, Turbo Tax confirmed that I will receive a share of the government’s money to “stimulate the economy.” Glory. How fun would it be to just drop that kind of cash and buy stuff!??!! YES!!!
Here are a few things that I could easily spend it on:
A plane ticket to California to see my grandparents
Shoes
Clothes
Ink for my printer
New golf clubs
Deep sea fishing
My sister (graduating from vet school)
Lavishing some friends to a HUGE dinner
Spa package (mmmmmm)
Skydiving
Part of a plane ticket to Africa
Other things I could do:
Give it ALL to GameTime
Save it
Invest it
Help someone pay off debt
Random acts of kindness
So what will I do?
Give some to NewSpring
Give some to GameTime
Save some
Spend some on others
Spend some on myself
Thank you Dave and Joe for teaching me how to make my money behave!!!
My taxes are done. Thank you Jesus.
They’ve been 95% done for a couple of weeks – only one slight hang up. Apparently I threw away a form by mistake. Had to go to the bank and get a re-print. But guess what? There was missing information!!!
AAAAHHHHH. So frustrating. Won’t do that again.
But alas, it’s done now.
I want to have a party.
Anyone else who hates details and numbers and taxes is invited.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD MORNING!
Lot’s going on in my brain.
- Perry laid the smack down about sexual temptation yesterday. It was specific, unapologetic, and necessary.
- There may have been a few parents who lied about their kids’ age to get them in the big service. HAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. People shouldn’t do that. Two words: Back-fire.
- Over 8,400 people yesterday – that’s 3 weeks in a row over 8,000! WOW!!
- Sherry is back from maternity leave. Yippeee!!!
- All staff meeting on deck for Thursday (I love those)
- By the end of last week delirium had set in….and someone snuck this picture. Oh dear.
I don’t even know…

- Blog posts have been few this week. I was out sick on Monday which created a lag in productivity.
- I started reading The Message last night which was freaking awesome. I love the freshness. I also found myself retaining more because of the conversational style.
- In 1 Cor. Paul was unapologetic about being bold and in their face. He basically laid the smack down and told them they better clean up their act.
- We had an awesome volunteer bring home made brownies and coffee to the construction peeps on Tuesday. They didn’t even know what to do with themselves!!
- There are a lot more cool pictures and progress updates on the GameTime blog, including the playground at Homeland Park!!!
- My teammates and I have laughed hysterically a lot today. I’m glad I get to work with fun people.
The trip to Charlotte was amazing, on so many levels.
For starters, Skye, Catherine and I are a dangerous trio. We work well and play well together which is a great combo for ministry. Plus, I like to play so that works out well. Our abs hurt from laughing so hard, and that was just in the car ride on the way up.
On the flip side, they are both incredibly sharp and when we put our heads together we get to 30,000 feet. That’s where big ideas happen.
Here are some random highlights from the trip:
- Did you know that Canadian geese hang out at the Wal-Marts in Charlotte? We cut across to get coffee at a nearby Dunkin Donuts and we almost hit one. It just stood there in the middle of the aisle. Whattheheck.
- Elevation’s office building looks like it came straight out of Plesantville. And everything is orange. I appreciated that.
- They have cool stuff on the walls at their office. A framed poster from every series and a story board.
- Larry, Candice, and Gene were incredibly professional and well prepared.
- Portable meetings are another world, especially when they’re in an old folks home.
- 36 of 50 Guest Services leaders attended. I saw real passion on their faces. They came ready to take notes and listen. They are the real deal.
- We drove Skye’s car because my radiator has been acting up. On the way home her car overheated. How ironic.
Here are some quotes that I took from our meeting:
- “You and I who know Christ are here to create an environment where people can meet him.”
- “I want you so captivated by the gospel that you are willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.”
- “If you’re a leader, you will get your people will feel what you feel.”
- “If all you see is a checklist, you’re not a leader.”
Dang. More to come.
